10th October 2014
TKC officially celebrated 25 years of business success, with a three-day open event held from 1st to 3rd October.
The Open Event, which was attended by more than 300 customers, associates and media, was hosted in a giant marquee at the company’s premises in Denton. Guests enjoyed an informal yet informative celebration, which included a ’25 Years of TKC wall’, charting the company’s growth from its foundation in MD Tom Kelly’s Hyde-based garage in 1989, through to its current £16m turnover. We also demonstrated a prototype of our forthcoming new website which is due for launch in 2015 and will see the inclusion of online ordering for the first time. In addition there was a ‘Research Zone’ which showcased potential different door finishes and colours, plus renderings provided by TKC’s partner, ArtiCAD, illustrating how kitchens may look in the future. Light entertainment was provided through a video loop of Tom Kelly’s appearance on the ‘Flying Start’ TV programme in 1994, and a golf simulator run by PGA professional Mike Hollingworth, who was on hand to offer golfing hints and tips to customers. The celebrations culminated in a huge party for the company’s staff plus family and friends, which saw Tom Kelly and the other directors cutting into a massive TKC birthday cake.
TKC has enjoyed year on year growth during its 25-year history, despite having to trade through two recessions, and now employs 100 staff at its 70,000 square-foot, purpose-built distribution warehouse in Denton. Commenting on the company’s success and its recent celebrations Tom Kelly said, “The Open Event was all about saying a big thank you to all our customers and staff who have supported us across the past 25 years and we would like to thank everybody who helped us to mark the occasion. Kitchens have become the focal point of the home and, going forward, we won’t be resting on our laurels. As well as our forthcoming online ordering system, we have plans to invest £500,000 early next year in an additional 13,750 square-foot satellite warehouse, which will enable us to extend the stock colours currently available for our existing door ranges.”
The company fully recognises the importance of its staff and has always taken the approach that TKC is a family. This ethic was evident from the Open Event and further supported by the fact that TKC staff had bought Tom an engraved silver pen and a bottle of champagne to thank him for leading the business through 25 very successful years.
Happy anniversary TKC!
